I'm Rebecca Tan Hui Qi, a Chartered Accountant in Singapore. Before I was an advisor, I was the person under pressure every month-end, closing the books, defending numbers to an audit committee, and building the FP&A models that leadership actually used to make decisions.
I spent over fifteen years in FP&A, controllership, and finance transformation at Unilever, De Beers, Zalora, and Revantage, which sits under Blackstone Real Estate. Consumer goods, luxury retail, e-commerce, and private equity real estate: different industries, the same underlying problem every time. Manual processes that quietly cost more than anyone budgeted for, until someone actually mapped them.
The pivot from finance transformation to AI consulting.
Every finance transformation project I ran eventually hit the same wall: the process was fixed, the controls were tight, and there was still a stack of manual, repetitive work that a person shouldn't have to do by hand anymore. AI is the first technology I've seen that can actually take that work off someone's plate without requiring an enterprise budget or a twelve-month implementation. I started Connect the Dots Advisory to bring that same finance rigor to how companies adopt it, instead of leaving that adoption entirely to technologists who've never had to defend a number to an audit committee.
What that actually means in practice.
It means I look at controls and audit trails before I look at what a tool can technically do. It means I ask who's accountable when the automation gets something wrong, before we build it. It means when I brief a board on AI risk, I'm using the same framework I'd use for any other capital decision, because that's the framework I actually trained in.
Credentials and public speaking.
I'm a Chartered Accountant in Singapore. In 2025 I completed the ISCA-SAC Board of Directors Masterclass. I've spoken publicly on finance transformation topics, and I served as club president through Toastmasters, which is where the plain, direct way I write and talk about this work comes from. I'd rather tell you something useful in three sentences than something vague in ten.
