Procurement & Cost-Control AI

Spend approvals, vendor management, budget tracking. I worked cost control at De Beers and Zalora. I know where procurement processes actually break, and where they quietly bleed money.
What I build

Spend controls that catch the leak, not just the paperwork.

Most procurement problems aren't visible in the system of record, they're visible in the gap between what was approved and what actually got spent. I've chased that gap in real cost-control roles, not just read about it in a case study.

Typical projects include automating purchase order matching, flagging maverick spend before it clears rather than after, tightening vendor onboarding so budget owners actually see what they're committing to, and building rolling budget-versus-actual views that don't need a finance analyst to assemble by hand every month.

I keep approval thresholds and segregation of duties intact. Faster spend approval is only a win if the control that was supposed to catch a bad vendor is still doing its job.

Real questions people ask

What people actually want to know before booking.

Will faster approvals weaken our controls?

Not if it's designed properly. Speed and control aren't opposites, the goal is removing the manual delay, not the approval step itself. Segregation of duties and thresholds stay intact.

We already have a procurement system. Why isn't it enough?

Systems capture what's entered, not what's actually happening. The gap between policy and practice is usually where the money leaks, and that's where I focus first.

How is this different from a generic procurement AI tool?

A generic tool assumes your process is standard. I map your actual approval chain and vendor relationships first, at De Beers and Zalora, the real leaks were never where the template expected them.

What's the smallest version of this we could start with?

One spend category or one vendor group. I'd rather prove the approach on a contained scope than propose a company-wide rollout on the first project.
